Phu Yen Hidden Gem: Scenic O Loan Lagoon & Seafood Delights

Discover the serene beauty and culinary treasures of O Loan Lagoon, a large brackish water lagoon located north of Tuy Hoa city, near the famous Ganh Da Dia. This expansive lagoon, covering over 1,500 hectares, offers picturesque landscapes where calm waters meet rolling hills and small fishing communities dot the shoreline. It’s a wonderful hidden gem for enjoying tranquil scenery, especially at sunset, and sampling some of Phu Yen's most famous seafood specialties.

O Loan Lagoon is renowned throughout Vietnam for its delicious blood cockles (sò huyết) and oysters, cultivated and harvested by local fishermen using traditional methods. Numerous simple, rustic restaurants and floating platforms are situated around the lagoon's edge, offering incredibly fresh seafood often cooked simply to highlight its natural flavour. Enjoying a meal here while watching the sunset paint the sky and reflect on the vast, calm water is a quintessential Phu Yen experience.

Beyond the seafood, the lagoon itself offers beautiful photo opportunities, with views of small boats navigating the waters and the distant Nhan Tower sometimes visible. You can explore the roads around the lagoon by motorbike or car, stopping at viewpoints and observing local life. Often visited in conjunction with Ganh Da Dia or Mang Lang Church, O Loan Lagoon provides a peaceful, scenic, and culinary hidden gem experience that showcases a different aspect of Phu Yen's coastal charm.
